I bought a 5-button remote-head key fob for my 2013 Ford Flex. These don't come with batteries unless you request a battery to be installed before shipping. ( I recommend you have THEM do this! ) Next, off to the Ford dealer to have the key cut. When they wanted $20 for cutting and another $120 for programming, I took the key to Lowes, agreed to purchase a #24 key blank for about $3.00 if they would cut my new key instead of the blank. They cut the key, I paid for the blank and went home. Using the downloadable programming instructions, I took my two original keys plus my new key out to the car. I used the two original keys as instructed, then inserted my new key into the lock cylinder. The new key instantly programed itself, and every button including the remote start button works just like the original keys!
