There are 3 possible procedures.
*You must have all remotes on hand when performing this procedure. Any remotes not used during this procedure will become inactive.
Programming Procedure #1
95-00 Contour, 93-94 Crown Vic, 94-98 Mustang, 93-95 Taurus, 93-97 Thunderbird, 92-94 Continental, 93-96 Mark VIII, 93-94 Town Car, 93-97 Cougar, 93-95 Sable, 93-94 Grand Marquis
1. Turn ignition to RUN or ACC. (Run is forward shy of starting car, ACC is turning the key back opposite of starting car.)
2. Momentarily jump pins in programming connector located at the base of the steering column (Mustang, Taurus, Thunderbird, Cougar, Sable), or behind the glove box (Contour, Crown Victoria, Continental, Mark VIII, Town Car, Grand Marquis); the exact location will vary from vehicle to vehicle. All doors will lock then unlock to confirm programming mode. (Programming connector will be 2 wires with a plastic plug at the end. The plug Will NOT be connected to anything. If you look inside the plug there will be metal inside on each side of the plug. Jumping the pins means to make a connection between the metal inside the plug. You can do this by using any metal, a metal paperclip bent in the shape of a 'U' usually works perfect.)
3. Press any button on first keyless remote. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming.
4. If programming a second keyless remote, press any button on second keyless remote. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming.
5. Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.
Programming Procedure #2
97 Escort, 96-97 Taurus, 96-97 Sable, 97 Tracer
1. Turn ignition from OFF to RUN 5 times within 10 seconds, with the 5th time ending in RUN. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming mode. (Off is the position where you can remove your key, RUN is the position just shy of starting your car.)
2. Within 20 seconds press any button on the first keyless remote to be programmed. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming. If you only have one remote then skip to step 4.
3. Within 20 seconds, press any button on the second keyless remote. Door locks will cycle again to confirm programming. Repeat step 3. for all other remotes.
4. Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.
Programming Procedure #3
95-00 Mystique
1. Enter 5-digit permanent entry code into the keyless entry keypad. (THIS WILL BE THE PERMANENT CODE GIVEN BY THE DEALERSHIP WHEN THE CAR WAS NEW. YOUR PERSONAL CODE WILL NOT WORK.)
2. Within 5 seconds of pressing last button of code, press the 1/2 button. All doors will lock then unlock confirming you are in programming mode.
3. Press any button on first Keyless Remote within 5 seconds of pressing the 1/2 button. Locks will cycle to indicate successful programming.
4. If you are programming more than one Keyless Remote (Including existing remotes) Press any button on second keyless remote within 5 seconds of previous remote. Locks will cycle again to indicate successful programming. (If the keypad light goes out before all remotes are programmed the entire process must be repeated).
5. Press the 7/8 and the 9/0 buttons simultaneously on the keypad to exit programming.
